I became a member of the Canaan Fire Company 7 years ago.
It has been one of the best and most satisfying decisions I have made in my 68 years on this earth.

We answer the call for fires, automobile accidents, EMS calls and so much more. We have been out in weather and times of day that most normal people would never even consider venturing forth.

I have seen the look of relief in neighbor’s eyes when we have responded to their EMS 911 calls, many know us personally and feel relived when we and EMS arrive.
We are the friendly face of your neighbor.

We are an eclectic group of people of every stripe the one could imagine but we are one when the tones go off and our pagers summon and we answer the call.

So this is what I’m asking.
When your Fire Company has a fund raiser, please attend, meet your neighbors, schmooze a little and make new friends.
If you can’t attend send a check, maybe add a little note of thanks.
I can assure it would be important and most welcome to us.
