A group of RJHS members – Julia Brandi, Donna Peck, Marilyn Herrington, Steve Irving, and Peter Cipkowski – are on a mission to capture the oral histories of folks who have lived here for a very long time. The team has already captured 10 hours of film – and that’s just the beginning. The idea is simple: create a series of short videos that cover different themes – farming, the railroad, community life before World War II, and so on – and thread together snippets of on-camera reminiscences with historic photographs and contemporary views.

Edna and Sam Dawson, shown here on May 31, 2015, the day before their 68th wedding anniversary, are among those interviewed. If you’d like to support this important project, want to loan historic photos or artifacts, or simply want to nominate someone to be interviewed, please contact us at roeliffjansenhs@gmail.com.
