Dr. Hubert Karreman will offer a public lecture as part of Hawthorne Valley Farm’s Biodynamic Winter Intensive. On Thursday, February 19 at 7:30 pm in the Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School Music Room, Dr. Karreman will share insights into how he got into agriculture and connecting with the wonderful life that is around us on farms. All are welcome.
Dr. Karreman is the Institute Veterinarian at the Rodale Institute. Dr. Karreman has led Bovinity Health as Founder and Principal since 2011, providing natural products for the non-antibiotic treatment of infectious disease. Previously, he was in full-time dairy practice for 15 years with certified organic herds in the Lancaster, PA area. Well-travelled and widely published in his field, Dr. Karreman served on the USDA National Organic Standards Board from 2005 – 2010, and was Chair of the Livestock Committee from 2007 – 2010, where he wrote recommendations for regulatory implementation by the USDA. From 1999-2000 Dr. Karreman was on the AVMA Taskforce for Complementary and Alternative Veterinary Medicine (CAVM), which wrote the current AVMA Guidelines on CAVM. He is a 1995 graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.
His passion is being among animals, working directly with them in a hands-on way, and teaching ecological and natural methods of preventing and treating illness. He is the first certified CowSignals® trainer in the United States and enjoys sharing insights into reading cows and understanding what they are telling us. Dr. Karreman believes that we can more fully enjoy the living world around us by blending straight forward factual information with heart-based perception and insight.
