The traditional Bengali New Year was celebrated in Hudson Saturday, April 15. The national holiday known as Pahela Baishakh is celebrated on or about April 14 with traditional food, music and dancing. The community in Hudson is large enough that celebrations were organized in two different locations, one group gathering in the church basement of the First Reformed Church on Green Street and the other in the gymnasium of St. Mary’s Academy on Allen Street seen here. Traditional songs were performed on the stage in the Bengali New Year’s Celebration in the church basement of the First Reformed Church on Green Street.
