CATSKILL — A resolution to authorize contracts and the budget for the Rip Van Winkle Skywalk project was passed unanimously by members of the Greene County Legislature’s Finance Committee on Monday.

Phase two of the project involves constructing the pedestrian connection between the Thomas Cole National Historic Site and the west side of the walkway, according to the resolution.

Other parts of phase two involve studying and designing direct and safe pedestrian connections from the east side of the walkway to the Olana State Historic Site, according to the resolution.

The second phase of the project is for construction and funding through two grants, Economic Development and Tourism Director Warren Hart said. The first state grant of $124,500 is for designing, planning, permitting and surveying.
