Join us at The Liberi School for Circus Arts Camp with Laura Geilen this February break. Each day begins with a playful game, a fun circus warm-up and a short introduction to some new skills. Campers then rotate in groups through a series of circus learning “stations” to practice these skills. Basic instruction and practice includes tumbling, acrobatics, juggling, clowning and balance skills using rolling globes, tight wire, rola-bola boards, stilts and unicycles. We’ ll take a lunch break, have some outdoor time and come back inside for “choice time” where campers can work on a skill of their choosing.

Laura Geilen is a movement educator, circus arts instructor and clown. She has four grown children. She currently teaches Phys. Ed. at the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School in Newtown CT, leads therapeutic movement groups in Camphill and is an instructor at Berkcirque in Great Barrington. She is a facilitator with Nose to Nose of North America and has collaborated with Walking the dog Theater and CircusYoga. She is especially drawn to circus arts for how they address a variety of developmental issues children face today in a fun, engaging and supportive way. Seeing children grow in skill, self-confidence, and social and spatial awareness is what has motivated her to offer camps and classes continually over the last 15 years.
