Spencertown, New York–Spencertown Academy Arts Center presents its second annual Members’ Art Show featuring oil and watercolor paintings, drawings, photography, ceramics, and sculpture made by 41 Academy community members. On Saturday, April 22, there will be an opening reception from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the show will remain on display through May 7. Gallery hours will be Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free and the artworks are for sale; prices range from $100 to $2,400 and a portion of the proceeds benefits the Academy.
Volunteers Barbara Lax and Leslie Gabosh are co-curating this exhibition; Lynn Rothenberg and Norma Cohen are also members of the Academy Gallery Committee. “When we decided to do this show in 2016, it was a bit of an experiment, a gift from the Academy to its talented members in the visual arts. We hoped that members would take advantage of the opportunity to showcase their work. We really didn’t know how it would be received,” said Lax. “It has only taken one year for the excitement of the show to spread. So many new members have joined just so that they could be part of this year’s show. The exhibition turned out to be a wonderful way for artists to meet other artists in the community.”
