CHATHAM, NY, October 29, 2019 – If you went fishing in the Hudson River on October 22, you may have seen local high school students wading into the water and teeming on the shores. Staff from the Columbia Land Conservancy supervised students from Hudson High School at Lasher Memorial Park in Germantown as they collected data on fish, insects, water chemistry, and site conditions. More than 100 schools and 5,000 students participated in “A Day in the Life of the Hudson and Harbor” this year.
“We look forward to this event every year,” says Heidi Bock, CLC’s Conservation Education Manager. “Working with the students to collect this data on the Hudson River is exciting, and it’s great to know we’re contributing to monitoring the ecosystem!”
