A packed Philmont Community Center, eagerly took notes and listened intently as Executive Director of Schumacher Center For New Economics, Susan Witt presented historical background and practical application for Community Land Trusts. This dynamic approach to respecting land brought forth by Robert Swan and E.F. Schumacher uses scenarios of land as trust in order to preserve humanity dignity and local economy caught the attention of everyone in the room. Susan’s inspiring talk brought forth ideas for how Philmont can maintain its historical integrity, inspire its working community and be a place of affordable dynamic community for now and into the future. Many Claverack Democrats, Philmont residents and regional community members were in attendance. Thank you P-Can, Cosmo Design Factory and Philmont Beautification Inc for hosting and Thank you HousingUS Initiative of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation sponsoring the event.
