    Won Buddhist Scripture Class Begins Again Saturday, May 13th, 2017 | 361 Route 23, Claverack | 08/18/2018

    Won Buddhist Scripture Study Class

Spiritual practice is like driving a car, whereas studying dharma is like knowing the direction. One does not work without the other. There is a Chinese saying: Before a saint is born, the way resides in the realm of universal truth. When the saint comes into the world, the way is with the saint. When the saint passes away, the way is in the scripture.

Beginning May 13th, for three months, we will study and discuss The Principal Book of Won-Buddhism on Saturdays (10:00 –11:30 am). It is the primary scripture written by Sotaesan, the founding master. In particular, we will focus on the Chapter: “Essential Dharmas of Daily Practice”. We will learn and practice how to foster a meditative, calm, peaceful state of mind especially when we encounter challenging situations in the course of our daily lives. We will begin the dharma study session with a meditation for 20 min, followed by study and discussion of one hour.
Everyone is welcome! There is no fee, but donations are appreciated.
