Did you upgrade your tech over this holiday season? Your old desktop, laptop or Chrome book can have a new life with a Red Hook student through a new program that combines the efforts and talents of Red Hook Public Library, Bard College Office of Sustainability and RHEDI, a citizen action group in Red Hook.
Bring working devices you no longer need to the library’s back entrance between 12 – 3 on Sunday, Jan 10. Program volunteers will erase any data that remains on your old devices and prepare them for new lives with Red Hook area students.
Covid-19 has shown just how vitally important having reliable, working technology is to everyone, especially to students. While RHCSD and other area districts have worked hard to provide loaner devices to students that need them, owning a computer allows students greater flexibility. This program seeks to be on-going taking referrals from families and teachers for students who would benefit from one of the rehabilitated machines. Contact Amy Smith at Red Hook Public Library via email (Amy@redhooklibrary.org) if you or someone you know needs a computer. Computers will be matched with recipients first come, first served – no questions asked. No computers will be given out at the Collection Kick-Off Event. That is strictly for donations.
Red Hook Public Library is at 7444 S. Broadway Red Hook, NY 12571. Please note mask-wearing is mandatory on library grounds. Contact Amy at the library at 845-758-3241 with any questions.
