2017 Claverack Daffodil Project

To help celebrate Claverack’s Dutch history, 20,000 daffodil bulbs are being planted throughout the town to complement those planted last year to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Reformed Dutch Church of Claverack and to honor the 250th anniversary of the 1767 church building. The bulbs are available at the wholesale price of 20 cents/bulb, (no markup). Typically, the homeowner will plant the bulbs but we can arrange for someone to plant them for another 20 cents/bulb (total cost 40 cents/bulb – typically less than the retail cost). More details can be found at the Town of Claverack website listed above.

To obtain your daffodils this year, please contact: Ian Nitschke, Chair, Claverack Historic Preservation Advisory Committee, Cell: 567-8288, Peggy Lampman Real Estate Office: 518-851-2277, 602 Route 23B, Claverack NY 12513.

Terms: cash or check made out to Ian Nitschke.

Photos: The spring 2016 celebration was a great success with the cheerful appearance of thousands of tulips and daffodils on the church grounds and 20,000 daffodil flowers in the Hamlet and beyond. Some of the spring 2016 daffodils are shown in the photos.

Stop NY Fracked Gas Pipeline (SNYFGP) fought the Northeast Energy Direct Pipeline proposal and it was an integral part of the movement that caused the developer to withdraw its application. We now feel an obligation to reduce our use of fossil fuels in order to reduce the need for future pipelines and increase the market for renewables.

SNYFGP is pleased to announce that more than 20 exhibitors have now signed up for the Renewable Energy Fair scheduled for Saturday, October 29, from 10 – 3pm at Maple Hill High School in Castleton, NY. This will be one of the largest Renewable Energy Fairs ever held in our area and will help residents find out more about solar, wind and geothermal energy, insulation and other ways to make their homes (or work places) more efficient and leave less of a carbon footprint on our environment. Admission and parking are free.

Among the companies already committed are: Advanced Modular Homes, Alpine Solar, Apex Solar Power, Advance Tech Insulation, Aztech Geothermal, Capital District Electric Vehicle Drivers, The Climate Chief, Citizens Climate Lobby, Carl the Solar Guy, Green Mountain Energy, Hudson Solar, Hudson Valley Wind & Solar, High Peaks Solar, Lotus Energy, New York Energy Society, People of Albany United for Sustainable Energy, Solar City, Solarize Albany County, Solar Sal, Stop NY Fracked Gas Pipeline, Viridian Energy, and Veteran Solar Systems. More exhibitors are expected.

Exhibitors are offering Door Prizes, Fair discounts and other benefits for attendees, especially where an energy saving contract related to the Fair is established.

For further information or to register, please go to web site http://www.stopnypipeline.org or contact Bob Connors or Becky Meier at 518-781-4686 or email becky@stopnypipeline.org.
