This is an exciting time for us in Citizens’ Climate Lobby, when our carbon dividend bill (the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act) continues to pick up cosponsors in the House of Representatives and several other carbon pricing bills have been introduced in both houses of Congress by both Democrats and Republicans. Slowly –too slowly, to be sure — we are seeing political movement on climate issues from both sides of the aisle.

Our August meeting will take place next Monday, August 19, 6-8pm, at Christ Church Episcopal (Union and Fourth Street, across from the post office). We encourage first-time folks to come to a brief orientation at 5:30. (RSVP’s are always helpful: brucefrishkoff@gmail.com).

Besides talking about our bill in Congress, we’ll be discussing ways that we and others concerned about climate change can take action, including meetings with our representatives, lobbying work in Albany and Washington, and presentations to local organizations and town boards. We’ll also hear excerpts from a talk on organized citizen lobbying by Sam Daley-Harris, founder and CEO of the nonprofit Civic Courage.

Conversation, snacks, and plans for action. It would be great if you could join us!

The world is heating up; come join our work to make a change! For more information, contact Karen Frishkoff: 518-672-7901 (kfrishkoff@gmail.com)
