YOU ARE INVITED TO DONATE A WREATH!
Columbia County Historical Society Volunteers are reaching out to County residents, artists, designers, and businesses seeking donations of wreaths for the 34th Annual Gallery of Wreaths. A Columbia County tradition, the Gallery of Wreaths kicks off the holiday season this year by displaying donated wreaths in the beautiful circa 1819 James Vanderpoel ‘House of History’ in Kinderhook, during Thanksgiving Weekend, November 29th through December 1st.
The wreaths will be sold via a silent auction held during the exhibition. All proceeds from the auction will benefit CCHS’ Annual ‘Day of History’ Field Trips. The trips are for all Columbia County fourth-graders and include visits to the circa 1850 Ichabod Crane Schoolhouse and the 1737 Luykas Van Alen House. Last year approximately five-hundred county fourth-graders benefited from this memorable, educational experience.
The CCHS Volunteers are proud to support this important program and invite individuals, groups, businesses and floral professionals to participate by making and donating a holiday wreath.
A flyer with a submission form and all information needed to enter a wreath is available at the CCHS Library and Vanderpoel House during open hours and/or by printing out the on-line form found here
and mailing it to Gallery of Wreaths – CCHS, Box 311, Kinderhook, NY 12106.
Reserve a place for your festive, holiday wreath by submitting the form by November 21, 2019.
CCHS Volunteers hold regular meetings monthly. Anyone interested in volunteering is welcome to check the CCHS Volunteer webpage – http://www.cchsny.org/volunteer. New volunteers are always welcome and training is provided. Volunteers organize lectures, work in the research library or museum shop, help with CCHS mailings and other administrative projects, work with school-group field trips, gallery-sit, and organize their annual holiday fundraiser, the Gallery of Wreaths. Volunteer opportunities exist in many CCHS operations, including at the c.1819 James Vanderpoel House, the 1737 Luykas Van Allen House, the c.1850 Ichabod Crane Schoolhouse, and the CCHS Museum & Library. The volunteers meet on a regular basis to discuss projects and other opportunities to support the organization.
CCHS Volunteers also receive behind-the-scenes preview tours of upcoming exhibitions, and enjoy an annual outing to an historical site or curatorial event. The Historical Society has many interesting projects where volunteer help is needed. For information on volunteering please call email firstname.lastname@example.org
