CATSKILL –As organizers of Temple Israel of Catskill’s upcoming fundraising auction continue planning, they are creating more and more unique packages for the public to bid on.

The auction takes place on Sunday, September 15th beginning at noon. Items will be on view beginning at 10AM that day and on Friday, 9/13 from 7:30AM until noon. Admission is free and refreshments will be available. The Temple is located at 220 Spring Street @ Rte. 23, Catskill. For more information call 518.943.5758.

“We will have artwork – like a 19th century engraving of Newburgh, antiques – including a pair of 19th century Chinese chairs, Waterford decanter and a Tiffany cut glass candy dish, and collectibles including a lot of 3 vintage cocktail shakers. But our one-of-kind packages give bidders the chance to have experiences they will talk about for months to come,” says Steven Mann co-chair of the event.

Larry Federman, President of the Northern Catskills Audubon Society has donated two special packages. He will lead a Canoe/Kayak Trip through the Ram’s Horn Nature Preserve. As a separate lot, he will share his considerable expertise on a dawn Bird Watcher’s Expedition.

Another “experience package” is offered by the Temple’s Rabbi Zoe Zak. She will come to the winning bidder’s home (on a date convenient for both) and welcome Shabbat with family and friends. Included are prayers and spiritual blessings as well as music. The rabbi is an accomplished musician.

Dennis Anderson, former curator at the Governor’s Executive Mansion in Albany will provide the highest bidder with a centerpiece for a Holiday dining table. The local floral designer has taught classes in flower arranging and worked with several of the First Ladies of the State and their head staffers. Arrangements can be made for delivery at the recipient’s discretion.

“We’ve assembled a wide range of items,” Mann said. “We’re still getting more donations – some for experiences, others for great take-away merchandise. It should be fun.” For questions regarding any of the items call 518.943.5758.
