May, 2018, Chatham, NY______

Something new is happening in thegallery@chatham is offering a unique opportunity for member artists to show their work at this new, membership based, commission-free, gallery in Chatham, New York.

The gallery will be an extension of the innovative and popular gallery@rhinebeck. “We created a new way of operating in the art world with gallery@rhinebeck” said Executive Director of both galleries, Pat D’Antonio. “The gallery@rhinebeck and the coming are operated as a 501-C3 non profit corporation. Members are chosen from the area and pay a fee to join, thusly we never charge a commission, 100% of every purchase goes back to the artist members.”

“There is a thriving art scene here in Columbia County and the Berkshires but also some frustration among local artists. There are not enough professional outlets for them to show their work. Sure there are coops and occasional group shows but no place that you can show year round and be properly advertised and promoted. An exciting opportunity for local contemporary artists frustrated with the opportunities to show their work” explains Pat D’Antonio.

“We are also dedicated to giving back to the community through public service initiatives year round. ” The gallery is also a vibrant educational and public service organization. We work with the Brookmeade Senior Center, The Anderson Center for Autism, Habitat for Humanity, The Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie, provide artist services and teaching art sculpture and photography with deserving organizations.”

thegallery@chatham memberships will be for a term of one year, at a rate of $80 per month ($960 per year), six months due at signing. Membership will be limited to 75 members in 2018-19. Any contemporary artist from the Hudson Valley, The Capital Region and the Berkshires is eligible for membership.
With membership in the gallery your work will be displayed in a beautiful 1700 square foot space at 34 Main Street Street, in the heart of the Chatham retail district.
thegallery@chatham will also offer special events to broaden and diversify your exposure:
spoken word performances, like The Moth, poetry slams and play readings, live music: light jazz, classical, singer/song writers, interviews with leading Hudson Valley art world celebrities, and
film screenings during the Chatham Film Festival. During all of these high traffic events, gallery staff and member volunteers will be on hand to help sell your work.
