OPENING OF gallery@chatham WITH GUEST ARTISTS

An exciting new opportunity to see some of the best in local Hudson Valley and Berkshire Artists will take place at the gallery@chathamgallery@chatham .
One of those opportunities is bringing in nationally known artists from the region as guest artists. Gallery friends like artist and Activist Norm Mangusson, whose work in is the permanent collection at MOMA, Guggenhiem Fellow Robert Hite, renowned portrait artist Nadine Robbins, New Yorker Cartoonist Danny Shanahan, and photographers Elliott Landy, author of Woodstock Vision and celebrity photojournalist Brian Hamill have agreed to show work to open the gallery. “All of these artists are good friends of the gallery@rhinebeckgallery@rhinebeck and are happy for our success and want to help in any way they can to make the gallery@ chatham a success too.” says D’Antonio.
“Just take a look at their collective backgrounds” D’Antonio said of these generous artists.
Elliot Landy gained close access to Rock & Roll royalty such as Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Richie Havens, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Jefferson Airplane and The Band; his images were used on the Music From Big Pink album. He covered the 1969 Woodstock Festival; his iconic images published on covers of Life and Rolling Stone. Robert Hite lives and works in Esopus, New York; known nationally and in the region, with a major show at the Berkshire Museum and an installation of sculpture called Migration House currently up at the Albany Airport. The imagery of his work draws upon memories of childhood in rural Virginia during the Civil Rights Movement. Norm Magnusson is a New York based artist and political activist and he is also the founder in 1991 of the movement funism. He created roadside historical markers part of his prosposed “New York State Thruway Project.”His honors include a Pollack-Krasner Foundation grant, a NYSCA grant and a NYFA fellowship for sculpture.Nadine Robbins is an American portrait painter focusing on the themes of defiance and eroticism capturing everyday life in portaits and nudes of people in all walks of life and she is known also for her series of oyster still life paintings executed with lush jewel toned paint. Listed by Buzzfeed 2017 as one of the top figurative painters working today, she has also been awarded a grant from the Puffin Foundation, has shown widely in private and group shows, and in The Count-Ibex Collection Germany.Danny Shanahan has been cartooning for over 30 years having started as cartoonist for the United State Tennis Association. After leaving Brooklyn for Albuquerque, he started selling his work to The New Yorker magazine, relocating back to New York in Rhinebeck where he continues his creative work. Brian Hamill is a noted New York photojournalist since the sixties covering politics, Rock & Roll having also assisted top fashion photographers of the day. In the 1970′s he covered the trouble in Northern Ireland for the New York Times Magazine. He has worked as a still photographer on over 26 Woody Allen films culminating in a coffee table book published by Abrams “Woody Allen At Work.”
These exciting artists will hang along side renowned local artists from Chatham, Ghent, Ancram, The Berkshires and the Capitol District.Visit the gallery and enjoy wine and cheese every Saturday 5 p.m.
