Tad Mann and Raja Choudhury of Universal Quest are requesting crowd-funding for their film about VIVEKANANDA: America’s First Yogi. See the trailer on the Indiegogo site and join us in this important educational and spiritual project. Click on the link below the photo above.
Vivekananda came to the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago and gave a talk at the Parliament of Religions that stated that he came from a religion that was all-inclusive, that accepted all ways to the spirit and the truth, and transmitted his message of Vedanta to the US and the world. In that sense he was the America’s first yogi. Indeed he spent much time at Ridgely Manor, near Stone Ridge, in the Hudson Valley in 1895 and the following years, where he lived and taught, and which is now the home of a Vivekananda Retreat center. His followers and those he influenced included Aldous Huxley, William James, Huston Smith, Christopher Isherwood, J.D. Salinger, Sarah Bernhardt, Nikola Tesla, Joseph Campbell, George Lucas, Somerset Maugham, John D. Rockefeller and many others.
Please help us meet our goals and participate in this important project and pass on the links.
