July 11, 2017– HILLSDALE, NY – Ken Davis and Kevin Draves, Owners of Passiflora Home & Gifts and Village Scoop Ice Cream & Alcohol-Free Bar are proud to offer another fun-filled time for National Ice Cream Day and Live-Music Performances sponsored by Herrington Fuels this weekend in Hillsdale, NY.
On Saturday July 15th “Rocks and Water” will perform from 11:30am-2:30pm and again from 6:30pm-9:30pm. “Rocks and Water” is composed of Thomas Doyle and Alexis Haluska. The two met in 2012 at an open mic at Hudson River Coffee House in Albany, NY. After completing their first ever radio recording session at WEXT 97.7. The couple states that they most recently “have had the honor and the privilege of playing all throughout the Hudson Valley and The Berkshires.” They currently reside in the Berkshires, where Alexis works as a speech-language pathologist and Tom is completing his degree in biochemistry. Their music and band name are inspired by outdoor adventures that they have experienced together, and they are happy to be performing at Village Scoop on several occasions throughout the Herrington Fuels 2017 Summer Music Series. Their set-lists are typically composed of both traditional bluegrass and more recent original pieces.
On Sunday, July 16th, from 12:30-2:30, Village Scoop celebrates National Ice Cream Day with $2 Sno-Cones and Soft-Serve. BeeBee the Clown returns for another exciting afternoon of Face Painting and Balloon Twisting, Kim Chirichella joins in on the fun with Family Sing-Along & Bucket Drumming, and Chef Juergen Schmidl will be onhand to press out Spaghetti Ice Cream, topped with House-Made Raspberry Sauce and Cookie Crumb ‘Meatballs’.
Kim Chirichella has been a tri-state music educator for 33 years in Region One, Sharon, Ct, and most recently, at the Muddy Brook Elementary School in Great Barrington, MA, and has taught general music, drama, band, instrumental and choral music for Grades Pre-K to Grade 12. Most recently, Mrs. Chirichella, her Grade 3 music students, classroom teachers and specialists at Muddy Brook created units and performed works for the award winning author Jerry’s Pinkney’s books, concluding with a celebration at the Norman Rockwell Museum.
Chef Juergen Schmidl has held duties on Cunard Cruise Ships and in Northern Germany as Chef de rang, Demi Chefde rang, and locally as Restaurant Manager & Catering Manger in Chatham, NY. “It’s enjoyable to bring something simple and fun to the table at Village Scoop for National Ice Cream Day” boasts Chef Juergen. “The kids have fun and that is the reason why we are all here.” Chef Juergen will take on the simple chore of pressing scoops of ice cream through a German Kiel ‘spaetzle-maker’, better know in America as a pasta-maker.
Village Scoop Summer hours are Mondays and Tuesdays 9am – 8pm, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays 11am-8pm, Fridays 11am-9pm and Saturdays 11am-10pm. Serving Artisanal Ice Cream and ‘nosh items’ that include local grilled cheese, fresh-fruit parfaits with local Ronnybrook Yogurt, House-Made Compotes, Salads, Salsas and chilled soups, protein & other healthy and fresh-fruit smoothies, and cheesboard items from local Chaseholm and Coach Farms; there’s the ever popular Artisanal Ice Cream, as well as Ronnybrook Farm Soft-Serve, and a list of alcohol-free ‘Mocktails’ that include ‘Blackberry-Mint Mojitos’ with freshly picked mint and ‘Scotch & Sodas’ prepared with Torani Italian Syrups – no artificial flavors or ingredients.
