There are two more Sundays to see Anthony Titus’s exhibition “Ruptures and Reconciliations”: this Sunday (10/17) or next (10/24), from 12-4pm at the ‘T’ Space Gallery in Rhinebeck.

As described by Lynn Woods:

“‘Ruptures and Reconciliations’ explores not only the deconstruction of the painted canvas but also of architectural space. The seven pieces, consisting of crumpled, wrapped, folded, or draped monochromatic canvas alternately emphasize and escape from the rectangle in glossy, jewel-like colors of midnight blue, marigold yellow, red, and celadon. They gleam in the dim natural light of the gallery and take on a gravitas in the compact but monolithic spaces of the building, reinforcing its dialogue of containment and flow” (Hudson Valley One).

Artist, architect, and educator, Anthony Titus is showing works that originate from poetry excerpts from Richard Wright’s Haiku. Titus was born in 1975 in Brooklyn, New York. His practice explores the uniquely constructed spaces between architecture, painting, and sculpture. Parallel to his art practice, Titus has taught architecture and art since 2002. He is currently a tenured professor of architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and he is the recipient of a 2013 research grant from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts. He received his undergraduate degree in architecture from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, and a graduate degree in fine art from the University of Chicago.
